The 2001 Xbox launch title returns with a grand remastering. With all-new high-definition visuals, a remastered soundtrack and a chance to return to the original look at any time, it gives old and new Halo fans something to enjoy. There are also Halo 4 story teasers, new skulls to find, online co-operative play for two people, and the chance to play original Halo maps in Halo: Reach's graphical engine.

Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC

This off-the-wall open-world title returns with a heap of new improvements. Players can wreak havoc in the industry city of Steelport, using floppy purple d**dos as weapons and giant boxing gloves that can quickly turn passers-by into a bloody mush. While multiplayer is omitted for a tighter experience, the expanded campaign will see the Third Street Saints take on a rival criminal group, with voice acting by Hulk Hogan and Sasha Grey.

Developed by the Super Mario Galaxy team, Super Mario 3D Land is the Nintendo mascot's first original 3D outing on handhelds. New suits include Super Mario Land 3's classic Tanooki Suit and the all-new Boomerang Suit.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

One of the final notable releases on Nintendo Wii, this latest Zelda has been years in the making and is said to be the biggest departure yet. Designed as a precursor to the entire series, it will explain the origin of the Master Sword and other common elements of the series. It'll also require the Wii Plus add-on for motion-sensing combat and exploration.
